The Samphires started with a few musical friends singing around the piano in 2012 and has grown in confidence and experience to become a locally known upper voices choir that performs regularly in the North Norfolk area. We are all women who are passionate about singing and we perform a wide range of genres from madrigals to 1940s songs, folk, classical and contemporary choral works both spiritual and sacred, a cappella and accompanied. We aim to engage our audiences on an emotional level, to uplift and inspire and our concerts are always meaningful and soulful.
We are also very proud to regularly sing original music composed by one of our members Jenny Vickers and have recently collaborated with Brett Lightwait’s art exhibition ‘Ask the Angels’ providing a musical backdrop to the artwork.
We sing in local churches for fundraising and celebratory events and we also do selected weddings and funerals. We are open to invitations and collaborations. Fees on request.
Every time I hear The Samphires I’m so amazed at the beautiful tone and balance. It’s so tricky to sing in such a small ensemble but it was absolutely exquisite! A beautiful programme, I particularly liked the more recent version of Silver Swan and the Bob Chilcott to end. Loved the use of space as well. I could go on and on, it was beautiful…

Thank you so much for singing and playing for us at the service. It meant a lot to us and your singing was lovely and so moving.

Although only five in number, the range of the Samphires’ voices and their songs made for a wonderfully varied programme which we all agreed had produced the perfect summer concert.

The Samphires delivered a mesmerising performance at St.Peter’s in the Park Church. This was one hour of Christmas magic, blending beautiful vocal harmonies with carefully chosen songs. The peace and tranquillity resonated through our special little church as these talented singers enchanted us with their voices.

There’s a real connection and friendship between the singers. The close harmonies from such pure voices are a joy to listen to. I just love sitting there with the voices floating around the church. I always come away feeling peaceful and spiritually fed.
